And: expertise in the field of premium spirits that has matured over three centuries .
The supplier to the British royal family is once again providing this with an exclusive single cask for cherry customers under Evidence. The Glen Elgin 2008/2023 leads to the south of the town of Elgin, where the Glen Elgin Distillery, completed in 1898, is surrounded by the green of Speyside. It was the last distillery to be built during the boom period of the 1890s . She still uses one to this day “Wormtub Condenser” – a cooling system that has become rare and makes the raw spirit heavier and full-bodied might.
The wine barrel in which the single malt was refined is also rare : it comes from the historic Prince Trubetskoi winery in the Ukraine . This strong barrel infuses the equally full-bodied distillate with red berries and oak. The nose moves from fruit to vanilla and back again. The palate is pleasantly full, with blackcurrant, canned pineapple and honey toast , which lead to a long finish with woody spice and some tannic smoke .
