Nur drei Jahre später brachte Compass Box (damals exklusiv für den Park Avenue Liquor Shop in New York) eine seiner bis heute beliebtesten Abfüllungen zu Genießern: The Peat Monster. Zum 20-jährigen Jubiläum ist das torfige Kraftpaket für kurze Zeit in Fassstärke verfügbar.
The Peat Monster Cask Strength vereint gefeierte Malt Whiskys der Brennereien Caol Ila und „Williamson“ von der Südküste Islays. Die besondere Verbindung zu den USA betont Compass Box zudem mit einem Teil-Finish in Custom Virgin American Oak Barrels aus Missouri, die man für kurze Zeit mit Grain Spirit impfte. Ergebnis: kräftige Vanille- und Zimtnoten mit rußigem Grill-Rauch, Seetang, Salz und Zitrusnoten.

In 2000, John Glaser was working for a large British distillery when he realized: There is huge potential in the world of Scotch whiskey - beyond the “that's how we've always done it”. So the American, who lives in London, decided to rediscover Scotch whiskey and make the joys of the water of life accessible to more people. The middle? Blends and blended malts of the luxury class.
Just three years later, Compass Box (then exclusive to the Park Avenue Liquor Shop in New York) released one of its most popular bottlings to date : The Peat Monster. To mark its 20th anniversary, the peaty powerhouse is available in cask strength for a short time .
The Peat Monster Cask Strength combines celebrated malt whiskeys from the Caol Ila and “Williamson” distilleries from the south coast of Islay . Compass Box also emphasizes the special connection to the USA with a partial finish in custom virgin American oak barrels from Missouri, which were briefly inoculated with grain spirit. Result: strong vanilla and cinnamon notes with sooty barbecue smoke, seaweed, salt and citrus notes.
