Solera is the name given to the traditional sherry production. A fraction of each young barrel is married with older ones, so that every sherry always contains a part of the first barrel.
The Starward Solera therefore contains a hint of the distillery's very first cask. The single malt was stored in Apera wine casks from the "McWilliams" winery, an Australian fortified wine. This is how the typical sherry notes in this malt emerge. The Starward Solera is bottled at 43.0% vol.
Aroma: Tropical fruits combined with toffee & vanilla.
Taste: Full-bodied with subtle sweetness, roasted toffee, bananas, creme brûlée and exotic spices.
Finish: Long lasting with dark fruits and spicy oak notes as well as exotic spices.
