Smögen is the epitome of a micro-distillery. The one-man-and-one-dog operation only produces 115 liters of raw spirit per production day. Made from peat malt with a typical alcohol content of 71% vol. Distilled, the “New Make” matures entirely on site in Hunnebostrand, Sweden and is bottled exclusively as malt whiskey.

The general rule for Smögen whiskeys is: They are powerful, characterful drops with a clear smoky note, maritime hints and malty sweetness. The latest bottling is no exception. The Smögen 10 yo was distilled from heavily peated smoked malt of the Optic variety. The strong Swede matured for a full two years in barrels that were pre-filled with fruity-sweet port wine of the Tawny type
