In Forres, on the north-west coast of Speyside, a small team of passionate distillers has been reviving a lost style of Speyside single malts since 1998: voluminous and with a hint of smoke . To achieve this, Benromach uses Highland Peat, Distillers' and Brewers' Yeast, very long fermentation times and only first fill casks that are stored in traditional Dunnage warehouses. And: real handcraft.

It is usually only produced once a year : the Benromach 40 yo matures exclusively in sherry casks and is bottled at cask strength . Anyone who manages to get their hands on one of the 1,098 bottles will be rewarded with apple and festive spices, citrus fruit and a hint of beeswax polish .
