An intense and very ripe single malt from the Western Highlands, a rare old gem from this distillery with a 30 month finish in first fill Oloroso. The nose is dominated by wild, sunny notes of tropical fruits (passion fruit, grapefruit, pineapple), but it is only marginally vinous: the influence of sherry only enhances the fruity character and adds overtones of balsamic vinegar, spicy nuttiness and a dry note added that balances the fruit. The same overwhelming tropical fruit character is evident from the first sip, with the addition of a hint of ripe melon: it is very chewy, very rich and mouth-filling, but again with a distinct dry and astringent note that complements the sweetness. Towards the end it becomes increasingly spicy, with a mineral note and lively oak tannins.
