Port Askaig is the gateway to Islay. And a synonym for great whiskey . Smokey notes, salty taste or a hint of seaweed – the Port Askaig brand captures the typical character of the island and its iconic whiskeys . The independent bottlings from Elixir Distillers are real “mystery drams” : which Islay distilleries the peaty drops come from is a secret.

No longer a secret: Port Askaig now invites you to get to know the essence of Islay with a refined look and a new core range . The core range consists of a total of three bottlings , with two of the single malts being limited but recurring as small batch or annual editions.

The Port Askaig 8 yo remains the pillar of the core range. With its gently peaty character , accompanied by fresh citrus notes and sweet ginger biscuits, it is the ideal entry-level whiskey into the world of celebrated Islay malts.

The Port Askaig Cask Strength, on the other hand, has untamed Islay aromas in its luggage. The cask-strength small-batch bottling consists of no more than 60 casks from a distillery located on Islay's north-east coast.

The barrel composition makes Port Askaig transparent via a code. Batch #01-2023 combines - much like Port Askaig 100 Proof - 25% First Fill Toasted Bourbon Barrels and 75% Refill American Oak Hogsheads to create layers of sweetness and spice interwoven with classic Islay smoke.
