With Lochlea, the Scottish distillery landscape has grown to include an independent, family-run farm distillery . The former Laphroaig Distillery Manager and current Lochlea Production Director and Master Blender, John Campbell , is not the only person responsible for the unmistakable style of their single malt. As one of only four distilleries in Scotland, Lochlea only uses home-grown barley , distilling and maturing its whiskey on site.

The Seasonal Releases showcase the signature Lochlea style in four different ways each year , reflecting what happens on the farm as the seasons change. The Fallow Edition (Second Crop) tells of winter, when the fields come to rest after the harvest season.

For this year's bottling, Lochlea selected not only Oloroso, but also Pedro Ximénez Sherry Casks . The result is a wonderfully rich, wintery dram that has a completely new flavor profile. The Oloroso barrels impart intense notes of Manuka honey and light syrup , while the new PX barrels contribute warming notes of sweet-spicy ginger candy and ground coffee beans .
