This is a cognac for lovers of 1960s whiskeys. It is not a simple “drinking cognac,” but a very complex and sophisticated one. This cognac was distilled in 1965 and comes from a single barrel that was bottled especially for us. From over 25 different barrels distilled between 1940 and 1993, this barrel was our favorite. The cognac shows noticeable notes of tropical fruits, as well as cassis notes on the finish, which remind us of older Irish whiskeys. After 54 years in the barrel, this cognac is extremely complex and concentrated, and requires a lot of time, air, and possibly a few drops of water. We recommend trying it towards the end of a tasting as it is very strong and intense.
